Blue Bottles

Blue Bottles diptych by Jacqui Simpson. This painting was created when I was inspired to tell my story of living with Lupus. The symbol of the butterfly in this painting represents the common butterfly rash that many Lupus patients develop on their faces. One of very few tell-tale signs that indicate that they have this disease.

I truly believe that the high dose of toxins that my body received as a young child when I was severely stung by bluebottles in the sea, was the trigger for this disease to develop.

Ironically, the product that I eventually found to help me live a normal life also comes from the sea and are delivered in beautiful blue bottles.
