Pain 1

Pain1- painting by Jacqui Simpson. Pain is something that many people know and understand well. Emotional or physical, it hurts. As part of my series inspired by living with Lupus, I tried to describe this pain in a painting.

Pain is something that many people know and understand well. Emotional or physical, it hurts. As part of my series inspired by living with Lupus, I tried to describe this pain in a painting.

As a young child I was severely stung by bluebottles. I remember well seeing the toxic lines running all over my skin as I slipped in and out of consciousness. Very often people who struggle with Lupus are told "But you don't look sick." Lupus is an invisible disease unless you develop the recognizable butterfly rash on your face. However, this is not always visible so the individual has no real visible physical signs of this disease.

Pain is pain. It saps your strength, your energy and somethimes even your will to live.

You can read more about the bluebottles and about LUPUS here
